West Star appoints William Morris as general counsel

West Star Aviation has appointed William Morris (pictured below) as general counsel, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of legal experience in aviation.
Morris will oversee West Star’s legal and risk management functions. His role will enhance operational efficiency while ensuring compliance and safety, said the company in a press release.
“William’s background in business law within the aerospace sector aligns well with our strategic objectives,” said Stephen Maiden, CEO of West Star Aviation. “His leadership will be critical in advancing our mission to support our customers effectively.”

Before joining West Star Aviation, Morris served as general counsel and chief compliance officer at Wencor Group. His previous experience includes key positions at ComAv and Husch Blackwell, as well as serving as lead counsel for aviation transactions at FedEx Express.

Morris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.
In May 2025, West Star was acquired by Greenbriar Equity Group. It was previously owned by Texan private equity company The Sterling Group.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
