Surf Air launches European operations

Surf Air has launched its European all-you-can-fly membership program, with its first flight on June 23.

Members of Surf Air pay £1,750 a month, and are able to fly as many times as they want. The first flight was from London Luton Airport to Ibiza, Spain. Cannes, France is due to be added to the network in early July.

By September the operator plans to add flights to Luxembourg, Milan, Munich and Zurich, as well as departures from a second London Airport.

The company’s European CEO Simon Talling-Smith told Reuters that the company had already signed up a couple of hundred people prior to the first flight, which was in line with his expectations.

Surf Air were planning to start operations with an Embraer Phenom 300. However their first aircraft arrived in the UK on delivery several days after the first flight.

Although unconfirmed, Flexjet Nextant 400XT operated a flight from Luton to Ibiza during the afternoon of June 23 under a Flairjet callsign. Flairjet are due to manage and operate the Surf Air Phenom 300 fleet.
