Following its acquisition of ARINC in late 2013, Rockwell Collins has spent the past few months integrating offices and facilities into the new information management services division headed by Jeff Standerski.

“The integration is going really well and is ahead of plans,” Standerski told Corporate Jet Investor. “The integration is better than anticipated and has been well received by customers.”

Despite the acquisition, ARINC’s branding was prominent in the exhibition hall at Farnborough this year, which is something that Rockwell Collins does not wish to change in the future.

“The new information management services division is ahead of the curve,” added Standerski.

Rockwell Collins is one of the main providers of connectivity in business aviation and Standerski says that there is still a great pick-up on SwiftBroadBand with bandwidth being one of the keys to its success. Customers keep needing more bandwidth to keep in worldwide contact while flying on business jets.

Increasingly, business jet aircraft are delivering with datalink capabilities and also higher bandwidth satcom. Rockwell Collins ARINC Direct has over 3,400 subscribers for their service plan packages worldwide and of those, nearly 2,600 are datalink capable aircraft (around 75 per cent).

The demand for point to point connectivity is increasing and Rockwell Collins ARINC Direct is continuing to invest in the network coverage, while also staying at the forefront of service delivery for satellite services.

Standerski says that he sees innovation technology as one of the biggest drivers in business aviation at the moment. According to Standerski, more and more business aviation OEMs are showing interest in the company’s solutions, and he hinted that you can expect to hear more news at NBAA 2014 in Orlando about new and upgraded solutions from Rockwell Collins ARINC Direct.

Another driver is safety and efficiency, including connectivity solutions in the cockpit and passenger cabin. “Future connectivity is a busy word,” said Standerski.

Rockwell Collins’s new information management services division will continue to search and find solutions to customers and systems challenges. This another area where integration has brought unexpected benefits and synergies, with different units working closely together.
