Rex’s advice

“Start with a team of business aviation specialists who can provide a comprehensive and integrated service. This saves time and money and ensures precise planning and execution. Fortunately for our clients, we efficiently provide the whole team, from legal and tax to finance to technical.

“Eschew the temptation to do it yourself or try to get by with your corporate lawyer and accountant. You’re making one of the largest purchases you’ll ever make. The asset has hundreds of thousands of parts and moves at near the speed of sound (with you in it!). Engage experienced specialists and you’ll be safer and save money in the long run. And never, ever, sign a form without legal review.”

Background

“In the early 90’s I was with the international project finance group of a national law firm. One day, a major European client told me they were buying a corporate jet and that I was advising them. As a tax lawyer by education (LL.M., Georgetown) with significant experience in large asset acquisition, development and financing, I had most of the skill set required to handle a corporate jet deal.

“After a crash course in relevant aviation regulations, the initial transaction went well. One year later I was living in Monaco organizing a financing and operating platform for 25 Falcon 900s. Twenty years and 1,000+ transactions later, specializing in business aviation has been professionally rewarding. It’s a dynamic field with a fabulous client base.”
