Italian police arrest Finmeccanica head in AgustaWestland bribery case

Giuseppe Orsi, chief executive and chairman of Finmeccanica, the Italian defense and aerospace group - and owner of AgustaWestland helicopter manufacturer - has been arrested by Italian police on suspicion of bribery.

The arrest follows allegations surrounding the sale of 12 AgustaWestland VVIP helicopters to the Indian government in 2010.

Police sources told Reuters that police were searching Orsi’s offices in Milan.

A statement released by Finmeccanica today said: “Finmeccanica confirms that management activity and the initiatives it has undertaken are continuing in an orderly fashion.”
