Norton Rose Fulbright names Keith Sandilands as new head of aviation in Asia

Keith Sandilands, partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, is known for his expertise in aircraft and shipping.

Norton Rose Fulbright, a law firm with 54 international offices, has appointed banking and finance partner Keith Sandilands to head its Asian aviation practice.

Jeff Smith, head of Southeast Asia, Norton Rose Fulbright, said: “Keith is an aviation specialist, has a strong Asian client base and has previously worked in the region. His focus will be to further develop our aviation practice across Asia, especially in India, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.”

Sandilands will move from the firm’s London office to Singapore before the end of October 2013 and will join partners Jeremy Gibb (Tokyo), Marc Waha (Hong Kong), Lynn Yang and Fei Kwok (Shanghai),Tasdikiah Siregar (Jakarta) and Leigh Borrello (Sydney/Singapore).

He previously worked in the Norton Rose Fulbright Singapore and Jakarta offices between 1991 and 1999.

Sandilands said: “Singapore is an important regional hub for aviation. We’re expecting to see further growth in aviation across Asia, and I’m looking forward to returning to the region to assist clients with that growth.”

Sandilands is an asset and structured finance lawyer and is experienced in all aspects of aviation, domestic and cross border finance, operating leasing (including tax based structures) and the sale and purchase of aircraft. He has acted for airlines, finance and operating lessors, banks and equity providers.
