Nextant Aerospace says its next aircraft will be a re-manufactured King Air 90 turboprop.

Nextant Aerospace, the specialist upgrader of aircraft, has announced its next project, the G90XT, will be an enhanced version of the King Air C90. The G90XT will feature GE H80 engines and Garmin G1000 Integrated Flight Deck.

The company hopes to deliver the first aircraft to customers in 2014 and says it will be roughly half the cost of a new Beechcraft King Air at around $2 million. As with the Nextant 400XTi, the remanufactured G90XT will incorporate new interiors, new engines, new avionics and make some aerodynamic changes into the existing King Air 90 airframe.

“Nextant’s collaboration with GE is an exciting milestone in the history of our company,” says president of Nextant Aerospace Sean McGeough. “For our customers it means we can offer them an expanded range of products which all offer an exceptional combination of performance and economy.”

McGeough added that in addition to the purchase price advantage, customers will benefit from savings in fuel and maintenance costs.

“The H80 engine for Nextant’s G90XT aircraft will incorporate several new features that bring additional value to customers,” said Brad Mottier, vice president and general manager of the Business and General Aviation and Integrated Systems organisations at GE Aviation.
