London Oxford starts building new hangar
London Oxford Airport has started building a new £3 million three-bay hangar. The airport is looking for a company to run the new facility.
“This new facility will provide much needed space for both established business looking to expand and as an attractive and cost effective base for new tenants looking to relocate their aircraft,” said James Dillon-Godfray, business development director.
London Oxford Airport is currently home to five maintenance companies – EBAS, PremiAir, Eurocopter, AirMed and Oxford Aviation Academy – and eight charter airlines.
The hangar is 4,440m2 (47,787 square feet). When the new hangar is complete in December, it will have increased the total hangarage at the airport by 78% since 2005 to 240,500 sq ft (78,000m2).
Each of the three bays will be able to hold Global Express or Gulfstream 550 aircraft and regional aircraft, including ATR72s, BAE 146s and BAE Regional Jets.
“Our owners are determined to maximise their investment at this increasingly popular business aviation airport and, with a clear and increasing demand for more hangarage facilities in the UK, we are delighted to be moving ahead with these new developments,” said Steve Jones, managing director, London Oxford Airport.
