An Embraer Legacy 450 of Canada’s AirSprint has set a speed record on a recognised course between the US mainland and Hawaii.

The outbound flight departed from Oakland and Landed at Maui, with the return leg operating into San Francisco.

The Legacy 450 covered the 2,428 miles (3,907 km) between Oakland and Maui in 5 hours and 14 minutes, with the Maui to San Francisco flight lasting 4 hours and 27 minutes.

The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) has confirmed that the average speeds of 449.91 mph on the outbound, and 525.89 mph on the inbound legs are speed records between the cities.

“We are elated to have flown aboard the Legacy 450 on this record-breaking flight to Hawaii.” said James Elian, president and COO, AirSprint. “AirSprint is proud to play a role in the personal and professional lives of successful Canadians. Our Fractional Owners trust us daily to take them, their colleagues, and their loved ones to places of work and leisure. With the Legacy 450 in our fleet, we are able to enhance their experience by providing faster, non-stop access to further away destinations like Hawaii, all with a level of comfort and luxury not previously available. We are thrilled to offer this incredible aircraft to our Owners”
