James’ advice

“Know who you are dealing with. It is essential to have strong relationships with your clients and partners, this builds trust which is key to closing a deal. You should avoid creating obstacles; far too often lawyers tend to focus on finding problems with deals rather than addressing the issues head on and finding commercially workable legal solutions.”

Background

“Prior to qualification as a lawyer, I qualified as a chartered company secretary and was exposed to many aviation companies whilst acting as their company secretary. It is an area which interested me greatly and having made the move to qualify as a lawyer I took the opportunity to move to a firm with a strong aviation practice in order to pursue this interest.”

Official biography

James obtained an honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway and later attended and graduated from the Honorable Society of Kings Inns and subsequently the Law Society of Ireland. He also holds a Diploma in Legal Studies, a Diploma in Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators.

James trained and qualified with the international accountancy and tax firm KPMG in their Corporate Legal Advisory Services department.
