HondaJet appoints Chinese dealer
Honda, who debuted the HondaJet for the first time in China earlier this year, has appointed a dealer for the new $4.5 million light jet.
The company entered into a partnership with Guangzhou-based Honsan General Aviation to provide sales services in China, Hong Kong and Macau.
The Honsan Group is China’s largest dealer of Honda cars.
Honda Aircraft Company CEO Michimasa Fujino says that HondaJet has formed the partnership after seeing a huge amount of interest in the aircraft during its Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) debut in April this year.
The HondaJet also visited Hong Kong and Taiwan following its ABACE appearance.
Fujino says he sees a big market for the aircraft in the Guangzhou region as well as around Beijing although, due to current government rules and regulations meaning that Chinese companies prefer larger long-range aircraft, it could take some time for the aircraft to get established in the country.
“We are looking more at the long term – five to ten years,” says Fujino.
