Greenpoint installs first VIP 787-8 Ku-Band antenna

Greenpoint Technologies has installed the first VIP 787-8 Ku-Band antenna for inflight connectivity.

The company will be installing another Ku-Band antenna on their second VIP 787-8 in November 2015.

“The composite fuselage designed by Boeing for the 787 Dreamliner presents many new challenges to those who primarily work with traditional aluminum skinned aircraft.”

There is a steep learning curve to understand the complexities of the new composite material, including processes for penetration, bonding, and the need for specialised tooling; all of which are taken for granted with standard aluminum skins.”

Greenpoint offers the provisions installation, based on the 787-8 Ku-Band antenna Boeing Service Bulletin, to modification centres around the world.
