Gama Aviation Hutchison (Hong Kong) has announced that its maintenance partner CASL has received FAA approval at Hong Kong International Airport.

The two companies became partners earlier this year, with Gama acting as sales agent for CASL’s MRO services at the airport.

And they have now received approval for ops spec VZFY534Y, covering Gulfstream G350/G450/G500/G550/G650/G650ER and Bombardier Global BD-700 series aircraft. This enables Gama Aviation to sell, under its general sales agreement with CASL, line and base maintenance (up to and including 3C/24-month inputs) to local and regional FAA-registered clients.

Gama Aviation says it will now be “immediately” looking to gain Cayman and Bermuda approvals.

Sergio Oliveira e Silva, general manager of Gama Aviation Hong Kong, said: “The addition by CASL of the FAA approvals allows us to sell an alternative maintenance destination to regionally-based aircraft. The facilities at CASL are extremely high quality. Given their impressive safety and delivery track record in time-critical commercial maintenance, we believe we have a compelling offer for both private owners and fleet managers.”

And maintenance operations manager Mark Durcan added: “With CASL gaining the relevant FAA approvals, we will be seeking those from Cayman and Bermuda immediately. This will provide us with coverage of a significant number of the Hong Kong- and regionally-based fleet.”
