Former QBE Aviation executives launch Plimsoll Speciality Markets
A group of former QBE Aviation Insurance executives have launched Plimsoll Specialty Markets, a wholesale insurance brokerage based in Atlanta, GA.
The group will be led by Michael Clark who brings with him over 20 years of senior leadership experience in the Aerospace Insurance field. He most recently served as the head of the Aviation Division at QBE where he joined in 2011 as a member of the team that founded their North American Aviation operation.
Clark will be joined by William McGloin who will serve as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. McGloin was the founder of Phoenix Aviation Managers, now Old Republic Aerospace. He served as the president of that highly respected operation for almost 30 years prior to leaving to lead QBE’s entrance into the North American Aviation market in 2011.
Also joining Clark and McGloin will be William Bertles, who will serve as head of Claims and Greg Vassilious who will serve as VP of Finance. Bertles brings with him over 35 years of senior leadership experience in the Aviation Claims field having served as the Head of Claims at both QBE Aviation and Phoenix Aviation Managers.
Vassilious, while having served as a senior officer of the QBE Aviation operation, is also a seasoned reinsurance executive, bringing with him over 20 years of experience as the head of the Aviation and Marine Treaty team at Everest Re. The group sees tremendous opportunity in the specialty insurance brokerage sector, especially within aviation and aerospace.
Clark said: “We are on the cusp of significant and rapid change in the dynamics of our small piece of the insurance world and believe that the high calibre of senior leadership that we bring to the table positions us very well to be a major player in Aerospace and other speciality segments in the years ahead.”
