Flight Safety Foundation to set up safety centre in Singapore
The Flight Safety Foundation will set up the Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation Safety in Singapore to help raise safety standards and increase operations in the region.
The centre aims to help ramp up operations safely as the region recovers from the pandemic.
It will develop an annual work programme to meet the needs of regulators and the industry, build capabilities in technology and data analytics and undertake studies to deal with safety challenges.
Its first three priorities will focus on a regional safety assessment, safety culture leadership and pilot competency and training capabilities. More projects will be added to the annual work programme as it progresses, through consultation with regulators in the area.
Hassan Shahidi, president and CEO, Flight Safety Foundation said: “Working with aviation stakeholders in the region, the centre will aim to accelerate regional aviation safety enhancements and support the safe growth of the aviation sector in the region.”
At Corporate Jet Investor Asia 2022, held in Singapore in July, Éric Martel, president and CEO, Bombardier said the region is seeing a massive increase in demand, adding he is “confident that this demand will stay”.
