Flexjet to open new private terminal at Farnborough Airport in 2026
Flexjet will open a new private terminal at Farnborough Airport slated to open in early 2026. The new facility will be separate from the current terminal and will be dedicated to Flexjet passengers and staffed with Flexjet team members. The plan is to replicate the service inside the new terminal that the company provides onboard a Flexjet aircraft.
This is the biggest infrastructure development outside the US by the company and it follows the opening of a new larger Flexjet House in Mayfair, in London early in 2024. The Mayfair facility has a Sales and Experience Centre, also included is a hospitality area exclusively for Flexjet aircraft owners to use and enjoy whilst in London.
Flexjet employs more than 4,000 staff worldwide and has terminals at key US locations including Teterboro and Van Nuys. The company is opening more facilities and plans to operate at 10 US airports by the end of 2025.
The Farnborough location will be the company’s first in Europe and the first private terminal facility offered by any fractional ownership company outside of North America.
The terminal will be located in a new ramp-side building, with construction begining this month. The structure will also house Flexjet’s Tactical Control Centre and operations teams, along with workspaces, pilot amenities, and a global Red Label Training Academy facility for cabin servers. This will replace Flexjet’s current offices within the airport.
“This is an exciting milestone moment for Flexjet as construction begins on this development, and a first for fractional ownership in Europe”, said Kenn Ricci, chairman of Flexjet. “We look forward to opening this truly exceptional space for our aircraft owners and their guests, which will combine stunning, contemporary design, with warm hospitality and a welcoming environment that they can call home each time they fly with us to and from Farnborough Airport – our premier airport hub in Europe.”
Ricci added: “This development places Flexjet at the forefront of European private aviation, demonstrating the scope and scale of our international ambition and follows the exponential growth we have already achieved since we launched in Europe in 2019.”
The terminal interior has been designed by Carver Hain Art & Design. The Flexjet private terminal will include aentrance an lounge and concierge desk, with separate arrival and departure lounges, dedicated to Flexjet passengers. An owners’ bar with meeting spaces, dining area, and a central formal bar, set against a fully glazed rear elevation with views of the airfield.
The building’s exterior will feature double-glazed curtain walling, solid metal insulated panels and a curved design, to complement existing structures on the Farnborough Airport site. The building includes the installation of 138 solar panels. Rainwater will be collected via Syphonic Drainage to then be re-used internally, while the installation of four electric vehicle (EV) chargers will promote the use of clean energy.
Simon Geere, CEO of Farnborough Airport said: “We are delighted to welcome Flexjet’s new private terminal to Farnborough Airport, a project that reflects our ongoing commitment to providing world-class facilities and infrastructure. The new facility will not only complement our existing award-winning facilities, but it will also complement the travel experience for Flexjet passengers, whilst reinforcing Farnborough Airport as the UK’s largest and most important business aviation gateway. We look forward to supporting this exciting new chapter in Flexjet’s European expansion.”
