Fatal HondaJet crash claims five lives

Air accident investigators are probing the fatal crash of a HondaJet HA-420 at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona. Four passengers and one person on the ground died when the aircraft – registered N57HP – crashed on take-off on November 5th.
An FAA preliminary accident report noted: The “aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances on take-off and struck a vehicle off airport property”. The accident resulted in a “post-crash fire [at] Mesa, AZ”, the report added.
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators are studying the causes of the crash.
The aircraft manufacturer said in a statement: “Honda Aircraft Company is aware of the tragic accident involving a customer-operated aircraft at Falcon Field near Mesa, Arizona on November 5, 2024. We are deeply saddened by this event, and we extend our sympathies to all affected.
“At Honda Aircraft Company, safety is our highest priority. We are giving our fullest cooperation to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as a party to their ongoing investigation into the circumstances of this accident.
“Honda Aircraft Company offers its sincerest condolences the individuals whose lives have been touched by this accident.”
It is understood that the light jet involved in the accident was operated by a Honda Aircraft Company customer.
