Duncan Aviation nearly completed winglet retrofit on two Falcon 900s
Company is fitting Aviation Partners High-Mach blended winglets
Duncan Aviation recently input two Falcon
900 executive jets for the first industry installations of Aviation Partners’
High-Mach Blended Winglets, which were certified for all in-service Falcon 900
series aircraft on 2 September 2011.
“We had several customers waiting for the
certification to be completed so they could schedule their winglet
installations with us,” says Tim Klenke, Duncan Aviation Falcon service sales rep.
“There are now two customers with these installations in process and at least
four more installations scheduled before the end of the year.”
High-Mach Blended Winglets for Falcon aircraft were designed in collaboration
with Dassault and are optimised for cruise speeds of Mach .80 and higher. Gary
Dunn, vice president of Aviation Partners, says the winglets deliver a 5% range
increase at Mach .80 and more than 7% at long-range cruise.
In the spring of 2009, Duncan Aviation was
the first service provider to successfully install the winglets for the Falcon
2000 series. To-date, Duncan Aviation has completed a majority of the total
industry after-market installations on Falcon 2000/2000EX aircraft.
“Duncan Aviation has performed nearly
all of the Falcon 2000 and 2000EX after-market winglet modifications completed
over the last two-and-a-half years,” says Pete Hubbard, Duncan Aviation
Falcon service sales rep. “These operators have been quite pleased with
the installations, telling us that not only do they like the aesthetics of the
winglets but that they have noticed a significant performance increase and fuel
savings within the first few flight hours after installation.
“Much of the credit for these
successful installations goes to the expertise of Duncan Aviation’s 40
structures technicians,” Hubbard continues. “Their expertise and
reputation help make Duncan
Aviation the place to come
for winglet installations.”
