Helicopter operator reports best year ever

Capital Air Services EC135Michael Hampton, managing director of Capital Air Services reports that
after 2009, an awful year for the company, there has been a spectacular
turnaround in 2010 with business increasing by some 60% in 2010.

The company have a Eurocopter EC135 helicopter based at Oxford with a new base being opened at
Manchester Barton airfield two months ago where a managed Sikorsky S76C++ is
now based. There are plans for a hangar to be built at the airfield by the
owner of the helicopter. This new addition is the second S76C++ on Capital Air
Services AOC.

Helicopter operators are facing big problems with the 2012 Olympic Games
and the authorities seem now to acknowledge that helicopters need to be
considered. The main problem seems to be security and the Home Office are now
in charge but there is some going forward with operators and the BHA now trying
to draw up proposals to allow some private commercial helicopter movements during
the games.

Currently, the proposals will ban all commercial helicopter flights in a restricted
zone for two months in 2012. The authorities need to take another look at the
zones and access for helicopters. The solution and funding will have to come
from the helicopter industry as the Home Office has no budget to take this
forward, Michael says that the industry has the time to get this sorted out
before the games begin.

According to Michael, helicopter charters are growing and there are
still many opportunities for helicopter operators.
