Over 800 people were drawn to the Business Aviation Europe 2013 exhibition at London Biggin Hill Airport this month, as 18 business jets and helicopters were showcased and Aoife O’Sullivan of Kennedy’s Aviation (fomerly Gates and Partners) chaired a two-day seminar programme.

Highlights of the static show included the Eclipse 550, brought to Biggin Hill by David Hayman  of Aeris Aviation who successfully achieved a sale on day two. Also on display was a Cirrus SR22T,  a Cessna CJ4, a Daher-Socata’s TBM850 by Aura Aviation, a Piaggio Avanti II by ConnectJets and a Pilatus PC12 NG presented by Pilatus UK.

In the seminar area, keynote speakers were Bernard Fragner of GlobeAir, Cameron Ogden of Blink, Patrick Margetson-Rushmore of London Executive Aviation and Howard Palser of DragonFly Executive Air Charter.

The RizonJet networking reception took place on the evening of the first day, beginning with an display by a Spitfire from the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar flown by Clive Denney.

Addressing delegates at the opening ceremony, Robert Walters, business development manager for Biggin Hill spoke of the British government’s recent decision to charge airports and FBO’s for a premium immigration service.

“This ill wind of changing regulation and taxation does absolutely nothing for an industry that innovates and provides jobs – ultimately this country’s GDP growth,” said Walters. “Ours is an industry that delivers the vital investors and companies to our towns and cities that will contribute strongly to the UK’s long term prosperity.”
