Bangor Airport in New England is returning to EBACE this year to highlight the benefits to operators of corporate and business aircraft.

Located on America’s north eastern seaboard, 3,123 miles (5,026 km) from London, the New England airport is the closest US port of entry from Europe and provides the shortest trans-Atlantic crossing on the Great Circle route.

”We’re well known for our quick turn-around times,” says marketing manager Risteen Bahr. “But we also offer other efficiencies, both to cargo carriers and to corporate and executive jet owners and operators,”

Bahr added: “And because the airport owns the FBO we have complete control over how services are delivered and can keep a tight rein on costs.”

The airport has one of the longest runways on America’s east coast and can handle aircraft of any size including the Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380.

“We also have a great weather record, staying open in the most adverse conditions when others are unable to cope,” said Bahr.  “And in a pre-emptive move to combat any further operating restrictions resulting from the government introduced sequestration, we have installed a pilot-controlled runway lighting system. In the event that further budget cuts by the FAA impact air traffic controllers and leave the tower unmanned, the system allows approaching aircraft to switch on the runway lights simply by switching on their cockpit microphone.”
