The AgustaWestland AW609 TiltRotor completes the autorotation trials progamme.

The AgustaWestland AW609 TiltRotor has completed the series of autorotation trials successfully.

Between the end of March and early April, the aircraft performed ten dedicated flight hours that saw more than 70 power-off conversions from airplane mode to helicopter mode, flown from the Arlington, Texas facility in the USA.

The test were carried out under FAA supervision.

The handling qualities of the aircraft exceeded expected characteristics seen during preparation in the engineering simulator in Arlington Texas.

The AW609 flight envelope expansion trials were completed in December 2013.
