Avantair’s entire fleet of Piaggio Avanti aircraft will soon
feature high-speed wireless internet.
The private aircraft operator announced that the installations will
be completed over the next few months.
Steven Santo, Avantair CEO, says: “From email to movies and music,
so much of people’s lives today require internet connectivity.”
“Business travellers are always looking for opportunities to make the
most productive use of their in-flight time,” he adds. “Simply being airborne
can no longer be an obstacle to online access and we are pleased to rollout
this feature for our customers.”
The service will be provided by Aircell’s ATG 5000 communications
system which covers the full continental US as well as parts of Alaska.
Santo says: “The Avantair family is very excited to provide this
new technology that will make our customers’ digital lives seamless from the
tarmac to 41,000 feet.”
Avantair recently received FAA approval for their flight crew to use
electronic flight bags and is additionally equipping pilots with iPads in order
to provide them with real time updates.
