In July, as a result of escalating tensions in Egypt, Air Partner worked closely with a major oil company to evacuate their personnel from Cairo on a Boeing 757. Air Partner’s Emergency Planning department had been monitoring the situation in Egypt for a month as unrest came to a head. A decision was finally made to execute a precautionary evacuation to the UK, which Air Partner was able to immediately put into action.

Graham Davey, manager of Air Partner’s Emergency Planning Department, said, “We are seeing a growing awareness within corporates of a company’s duty of care and the importance of looking after personnel. Globalisation and the need to take business into ever more challenging areas increases the requirement to consider exit strategies. Those organisations that do not have exit plans risk early or late exit, which then either leads to lost opportunity or risk to personnel. It is also important to note that this is relevant to all sectors; at Air Partner we have clients in the oil and gas, mineral, chemical, food, finance, aviation manufacturing and charity sectors.”

In April, an escalation of tensions in South Korea also caused eight of Air Partner’s major EPD clients to prepare tentative evacuation plans for their personnel based out there. While hostilities eventually abated, and in the end no evacuation was required, Air Partner worked closely with clients on contingency planning to ensure that the team were “ready to go” if the situation developed.

Davey commented, “We undertook extensive planning and aircraft sourcing and ensured that everything was in place for a rapid evacuation if the need had arisen. We are very proud of the expert support that we were able to provide our clients with during these weeks of tension. Our preparation, global client and supplier relationships and the can-do attitude of our team means that Air Partner is able to provide unique solutions for corporates’ emergency planning needs.”

In 2011, Air Partner worked around the clock to organise humanitarian aid flights and evacuate more than 12,000 people in just six weeks from across Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, New Zealand and Japan.
