Hamish Harding, chairman of Action Aviation, is set to enter space on 4th June 2022. The Blue Origin rocket is scheduled to launch at 1230 GMT from West Texas. The mission will be live-streamed here one hour before the flight.

“After wanting to do this my whole life, I feel very honoured to be going to space today,” says Harding.

The New Shepard rocket, built by Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin company, will fly 100km above the earth crossing the Karman Line which is the boundary of space. It will reach Mach 3 as it leaves the earth’s atmosphere. Harding and his fellow crew will experience 3g forces on ascent and 5g forces on re-entry. The rocket will reach a top speed of 2,200 mph (3500 km/hr).

Harding already holds the world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the earth by an aircraft. He has also dived the Challenger Deep to a depth of 36,000 ft.  His partner in the dive Victor Vescovo is also part of the Blue Origin mission.
