Gulfstream expands PlaneParts and names Richard Shaw as manager
Richard Shaw has become manager of Gulfstream PlaneParts, a cost-per-flight-hour spare parts programme. The manufacturer is also now making the programme available to owners of large cabin aircraft.
Shaw joins from Bombardier Aerospace, where he worked in product support for 25 years.
“At a time when we all are faced with controlling costs, this programme gives Gulfstream operators a tool to accurately forecast their expenditures,” said Mark Burns, president: Gulfstream product support.
The Gulfstream PlaneParts programme for mid-cabin aircraft began in 2005 when it was called BudgetPlus. A pilot plan for large cabin aircraft was launched in June 2010 at a Gulfstream Operators’ Conference.
PlaneParts customers pay per flight hour with rates based on the aircraft’s age, the number of hours it has flown and the number of landings. Customers pay a monthly subscription and then receive parts when needed, allowing them to budget for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
