Wheels Up will grow its fleet to 55 aircraft by the end of 2015.
The company’s fleet currently has 45 aircraft: 35 King Air 350is and 10 Citation Excel / XLSs.
Wheels Up say that they will add five new King Air 350is, and five Cessna Citation XLS+s before the end of the year.
Wheels Up originally placed an order for 105 King Air’s in 2013. The aircraft orders were firmed up in batches of 35 aircraft, with the original batch of 35 aircraft deliveries completed with the delivery of the pink King Air.
The new batch of 35 aircraft will now be delivered, averaging one and a half to two aircraft a month.
“Nobody in our industry has taken as many airplanes in the last 20 months, including all the big guys” says Dichter.
As well as growing the fleet, CEO Kenny Dichter says that Wheels Up’s membership is also growing quickly.
The company expecting the total membership to grow to 2,000 members by the end of the year.
