G280 sets Guernsey to Teterboro speed record

A Gulfstream G280 has set a world speed record on a flight between Guernsey and Teterboro.

The aircraft covered the 3,216 nm / 5,956-km distance in seven hours and 26 minutes. During the flight the G280 flew at an average speed of Mach 0.80.

“This flight showcased the G280’s outstanding takeoff performance,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, worldwide sales, Gulfstream. “Guernsey’s available takeoff distance is less than 5,200 feet, yet the G280 was able to make this trip with plenty of room to spare. One of the many benefits of the G280 is being able to use smaller airports and runways around the world without sacrificing range and speed.”

Details of the flight will now be sent to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland for validation as a world record.
