ExxonMobil signs agreement with Pratt & Whitney

ExxonMobil Aviation has signed a commercial agreement to have its most advanced, High-Performance Capability (HPC) synthetic jet engine oil, Mobil Jet Oil 387 tested in all of Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower engine models.

The testing programme is due to begin 2015 and will include the complete family of PurePower engines, including the PW1100G-JM, PW1200G, PW1400G, PW1500G, PW800, PW1700G and PW1900G engine models.

Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower engines are widely featured on regional and single-aisle aircraft.

PurePower engines are the engines used on the Gulfstream G500 and G600 business jets. PurePower engines are used on many commercial aircraft flying today or which in development today.

Greg Gernhardt, president, Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, said: “We are very pleased to be collaborating with ExxonMobil to begin testing Mobil Jet Oil 387 in our PurePower engine family. With the success of our engines in the marketplace and their demonstrated performance, this agreement enables us to continue to find ways to exceed the performance goals we set for ourselves.”

Frans Horjus, global aviation lubricant sales manager at ExxonMobil, said: “As the most advanced High Performance Capability oil that ExxonMobil has ever developed, Mobil Jet Oil 387 is also an ideal option for the Pratt & Whitney PurePower engine line.”
