Clyde & Co, the international law firm, has announced the establishment of new aviation finance practices in Hong Kong and Dubai.

The new practice in Asia will be led by Paul Jebely, who joins the firm on March 11 from Ashurst in Hong Kong where he was a senior associate and head of aviation for Asia, Middle East and Africa.  Clyde & Co’s Middle East practice will be led from Dubai by Oliver Tebbit, who will be re-locating from the firm’s London office in April.  Tebbit has specialised in business jet finance for a number of years and joined Clyde & Co in 2009.

“We must provide our clients with the highest possible service quality, and we do that best by having excellent lawyers with the right experience in the right places,” says Gavin Hill who is head of Clyde & Co’s worldwide aviation finance group.

With Jebely joining, the firm now has five senior lawyers who are all active in business aviation. Hill heads the aviation team in London. Partner Mark Bisset concentrates on European commercial and business jet lenders and buyers with a particular focus on Russian transactions. Tebbit will work on European and Middle East deals. Jebely will focus on Asian deals as well as continuing to represent a large number of African lenders and clients. India business jet deals are managed by Sidanth Rajagopal who is based in London.

Jebely, who is qualified in the US, Canada and England, says: “Clyde & Co has been a firm I have always tracked and I have seen as a pre-eminent aviation firm – they are the firm that has always pushed me hardest in negotiations when I have been representing others.”

Hill adds: “We are not just saying that we are an international business jet law firm – we are actually putting specialist lawyers into the fastest growing markets.  No other firm has as many dedicated business jet lawyers spread across the key markets of Asia, Europe and the Middle East”.
