Titan Airways ends 17 years of British Aerospace operations

London Stansted-based charter specialist Titan Airways brings 17 years of BAe aircraft operations to an end.

Titan Airways at London Stansted Airport has sold the last remaining BAe 146 aircraft in the company’s fleet to Australia. The Avro RJ100 – an improved version of the original BAe 146 – is destined for North Cariboo Airways in Canada.
The BAe 146 was the first jet aircraft to join the Titan fleet in 1996. In its seventeen year career at the company, the BAe 146 fleet expanded to five aircraft. The last aircraft carried VIP passengers, including members of the British Royal Family, to transporting the Royal Mail.
Gene Willson, Titan Airways managing director, said: “Over the years, the 146QC contracts have been great for us – passengers by day and freight or mail by night – but their work has now been taken over by our larger more fuel efficient Boeing 737QCs.”
The Avro RJ100 has most recently been employed on a government contract in the Gulf region. That operation is due to be taken over by the RAF’s own aircraft imminently.
Titan Airways have been adding new aircraft, most recently an Airbus A320-200 in April this year.
