TAG Farnborough awards local student with scholarship for Private Pilot’s License

TAG Farnborough Airport awarded a local student, 17-year old James Peter Singh, with the opportunity to gain a National Private Pilot’s License, as part of the TAG Flying Scholarship.

Every year, TAG Farnborough Airport – which is one of two London airports dedicated exclusively to business aviation – and the Air League Educational Trust award one young person from the local community with the prestigious scholarship.

“I would like to thank TAG Farnborough Airport for sponsoring this training program and offering me the opportunity to fulfill my ambition to become a pilot or aircraft engineer,” says Singh. “I can’t wait to get into the air.”

Speaking to the media on the first day of Farnborough International Airshow 2014, Brandon O’Reilly, CEO of TAG Farnborough Airport, said that the scholarship firstly assesses the applicants on their ambitions for the future, as opposed to their interest in aviation or flying.

“Community engagement is very important to us and we are keen to encourage young people to become involved in the world of aviation,” said O’Reilly. “James has worked hard to get to this point and I am sure he will benefit greatly from the flying experience he will gain from this scholarship.”

Positioned a little over an hour outside central London, TAG Farnborough Airport currently handles around 43,000 business aircraft movements a year. It is poised to increase this total to 50,000 by 2019.
