RUAG Aviation in Switzerland is now offering its customers real wooden flooring on their private jets, without adding any additional weight to the aircraft. The flooring has been developed by LIST Components and Furniture in Austria.

Approximately 10 mm thick, the wood flooring is available in a variety of veneers and can be laid in different patterns in an aircraft’s entry, shower and toilet areas as well as in sections of the main cabin.

Andreas Aigner, director of research and development at LIST Components and Furniture, said: “Real wood flooring brings a touch of inimitable elegance to an aircraft cabin, a rare and distinguished charm.”

“Function is naturally as important as aesthetics, however, and our wood flooring is also completely safe and highly durable,” added Aigner.

The slip resistant wood is fully certified by EASA and FAA.

Tobias Laps, head of sales, marketing and business development at RUAG Aviation, said: “Our continued commitment to delivering premium solutions for our customers is reflected in this exclusive new capability. We are very pleased to be working with LIST components & furniture to provide real wood flooring installations on business aircraft.”
